Supporting Families Through the EHCP Journey
Navigating the SEND system can feel confusing and overwhelming. EHCP-Matters provides calm, structured advocacy support to help families understand their child’s needs, communicate effectively with professionals, and move forward with confidence.
Support is always tailored to your individual situation and may include guidance, structured advocacy work, or tribunal preparation where required.
Our approach is always child-centred, collaborative and focused on clarity.

What support we can offer you
Clear, practical support to help families navigate the SEND system and secure the education their child needs.
Initial Consultation
A consultation is the first step in understanding your situation and identifying the most appropriate next steps.
During this session we may:
• discuss your child’s current educational situation
• review key concerns around provision, support or placement
• explain relevant SEND processes and timelines
• outline possible next steps
This meeting usually lasts 60–90 minutes and provides a calm space to explore your situation and ask questions.
The consultation also helps determine what level of support may be helpful moving forward.
Case Review & Strategic Overview
Where a family would like more structured support, we may begin with a case review and strategic overview.
This stage includes:
• reviewing key documents such as EHCPs or professional reports
• identifying the main issues affecting your child’s access to education
• clarifying the current position within the SEND process
• outlining practical next steps and possible strategies
Families receive a clear written case overview to help them understand their position and move forward with confidence.
Structured Advocacy Support
Where ongoing support is required, EHCP-Matters can provide structured advocacy assistance.
Support may include:
• reviewing reports and evidence
• drafting or refining communication with schools or Local Authorities
• preparing for meetings or reviews
• helping ensure discussions remain focused on the child’s needs
• organising information to support clear communication
Advocacy support is always collaborative. Parents remain the decision-makers in all matters concerning their child.
Meeting Preparation & Support
Meetings with schools or Local Authorities can sometimes feel overwhelming.
EHCP-Matters can help families prepare by:
• organising key discussion points
• identifying important evidence to reference
• clarifying questions to raise during the meeting
• helping ensure discussions remain child-centred
The goal is to help parents attend meetings feeling prepared, confident and supported.
Tribunal Preparation Support
Where disagreements cannot be resolved through discussion, families may choose to pursue an appeal to the SEND Tribunal.
EHCP-Matters can support families by helping to organise and prepare their case.
Support may include:
• reviewing evidence and professional reports
• helping structure documentation clearly
• preparing tribunal submissions and supporting materials
• guiding families through the tribunal process and timelines
Our focus is always on helping families present clear, organised information centred on the child’s needs.
